Art and Art History - A Series of Art Classes on World Famous Artists
The Art & Art History class at The Village aims to foster an early love for art in your little one. Ms. Genevieve will expose students to some of history's most famous artists while encouraging unbridled creativity and individuality.
Classes will take place in our learning studio on Tuesdays at 12:30PM-1:30PM
10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26
Class 1 - Henri Matisse
Join Ms. Genevieve in discovering and replicating the bold and colorful collages of Henri Matisse. Henri's Scissors by Jeanette Winter will provide a foundation for learning about this famous French artist.
Class 2 - Georgia O'Keeffe
Who doesn't love bright, beautiful flowers? Students will learn about Georgia O'Keeffe's vibrant flower paintings through My Name is Georgia by Jeanette Winter. They will then create charming floral artworks of their own!
Class 3 - Jackson Pollock
Famous for his abstract expressionist style, Jackson Pollock will be the focus of this class. Ms. Genevieve will read Action Jackson by Sandra Jordan and Jan Greenberg, and give students full creative freedom as they drip and splash paint onto their canvases.
Class 4 - Yayoi Kusama
Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama loves polka dots... and pumpkins! This class will be all about the gourd-loving artist and students will create pumpkin-inspired artworks just in time for Halloween. Students will get to know the artist further through Yayoi Kusama Covered Everything in Dots and Wasn't Sorry by Fausto Gilberti.
